Thank you for your interest in our writers group!!!

K.A.W.G. (Kick-Assonance Writers Group) is a closed group (for security and spam purposes), and we strive to ensure the best possible experience for all group members. Please do not challenge or attack others.

K.A.W.G. (Kingdom of Allied Writing Guilds) is meant to stimulate conversation, and posting comments should reflect such, not create contention. Let others have their say, just as you may. All Defamatory, Abusive, Profane, Threatening, Offensive, or Illegal comments are strictly prohibited. Do not post comments that you would not want the world to see or that you would not want anyone to know came from you.

And yes, “K.A.W.G.” (Kelter of Awesome Writing Get-togethers) is a backronym that doesn’t means any one thing in particular so much as it does anything you want it to mean.

So if you find the intent of K.A.W.G. (Kraken Are Water Giants) to be copacetic and wish to join the chat, please take a moment to acquaint yourself with these important rules/guidelines that we use to help moderate the group.

1. Don’t be a jerk. Don’t call people names. Don’t use slurs (racial, sexual, whatever). Don’t make rape jokes. This will get you immediately and permanently banned.

2. PLEASE report comments that violate rule 1. Don’t fight with the original poster – message an Admin.

3. “I can’t bring people back from the dead. It’s not a pretty picture, and I don’t like doing it!”

4. Channels have been created for various genres to help the discussions stay organized. This enables people to participate in the discussions/genres in which they are interested, and conversely not need to participate in conversations on topics in which they are not interested.

You will be able add yourself to any (or all) of the following channels of which you would like to be a part. Please help us to keep things organized by using the appropriate channels for their intended use.

    • Adventure – any discussions, questions, advice, or general info on the Adventure genre, regardless of age of intended audience.
    • Children’s Books – anything having to do with children’s literature, from board books to K-12 novels.
    • Events – for scheduling or discussing any in-person or virtual meet-ups, writing conferences, submission contests, etc.
    • Fantasy – any discussions, questions, advice, or general info on the Fantasy genre.
    • General – any discussions, questions, advice, or general unrelated to a specific genre or field of interest.
    • Hot Off The Press – This channel is specifically for posting when you have a book coming out or some other book-related promotion or friendly solicitation for yourself or a friend and you want to announce it to everyone in the group! Please keep such advertisements restricted to this channel and not in the #general channel. (Such posts in the #general channel will be removed.)
    • Mystery – any discussions, questions, advice, or general info on the Mystery genre.
    • NaNoWriMo – any discussions specially oriented around National Novel Writing Month, including, tips, tricks, and tales from the trenches.
    • Politics – any reference to candidates, appointments, elections, or politicians in government, legal cases, laws, or military actions. These are hot topics of discussion, but since real world politics are so often reflected in our writing either literally or through interpretive transposition, it’s important to have this venue for research-related questions. Questions and comments are welcome as long as they relate to writing and the creative process, and out of respect to other viewpoints and world views, you must refrain from your own person political commentary. Tread softly.
    • Random – anything unrelated to writing or the literary realm that you want to share with the group.
    • Religion – any reference to members of the faith, appointments, elections, specific religions or clergy in the church, legal cases, laws, or military actions. These are hot topics of discussion, but since real world religions are so often reflected in our writing either literally or through interpretive transposition, it’s important to have this venue for research-related questions. Questions and comments are welcome as long as they relate to writing and the creative process, and out of respect to other viewpoints and world views, you must refrain from your own person religious commentary. Tread softly.
    • Romance – any discussions, questions, advice, or general info on the Romance genre.
    • Sci-Fi – any discussions, questions, advice, or general info on the Science Fiction genre.
    • Thriller – any discussions, questions, advice, or general info on the Thriller / Suspense genre.
    • Young Adult – any discussions, questions, advice, or general info on the Young Adult genre, including the New Adult category. Which is a discussion in and of itself.

More channels can be created upon request if there is a specific topic or theme that isn’t listed above, just ask an admin!

5. Real world religion and politics have no place anywhere in the forum other than their respective “religion” and “politics” channels, and as long as it relates to writing and the creative process. This rule will be strongly enforced.

6. Polite conversation about inclusiveness and representation is welcome as long as it relates to writing and the creative process. You are welcome here regardless of race, color, religion, creed, sex, orientation, identity, age, or other characteristics, as long as you follow the rules. If you don’t like it, don’t comment on it and/or block people who post it.
